As a Special Education Substitute Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse learning needs in their educational journey. You will step into various classrooms and work closely with students, teachers, and administrators to provide an effective and engaging learning environment. Your understanding and appreciation of different learning styles, cultures, and languages, plus the ability to adapt instruction to meet individual needs, will be paramount in ensuring student success.

Responsibilities

Implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needsProvide academic support, educational guidance, and feedback to studentsCollaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure the implementation of effective instructional strategiesDifferentiate instruction based on the unique needs and abilities of studentsCreate and maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environmentAssist students with personal care needs, if requiredFollow all school policies and procedures, including reporting and documentation requirementsMinimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree (still apply if in progress or if did not finish)Previous experience working with neurodivergent studentsKnowledge of different assessment methods and techniques for tracking student progressAbility to effectively manage classrooms and maintain disciplineStrong communication and interpersonal skillsPatience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues
