The University of Southern Maine’s Department of Linguistics is seeking applicants for the position of part-time instructor to teach French, Italian, and Audiology courses.

The Department of Linguistics is an undergraduate program within the College of Science, Technology and Health. We are seeking student-focused instructors who will have full responsibility for course delivery and grading.

Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior teaching experience. In addition, USM employees can use their USM Card to access the library, Cigna Employee Assistance Plan, and fitness center(s). USM also offers part-time faculty the opportunity for development frequently through our Center for Collaboration and Development (CCD) and the chance to get an online teaching certification and training through CTEL.

Qualifications differ depending on the area. They are:

Speech/language pathology foundation courses:

Master’s degree or doctorate in Speech/Language Pathology or Audiology.

Spoken languages at the 100-level, 200-level, and 300:

Native or near-native fluency in the language and Master’s degree in a discipline related to the language.

FRENCH:

Master's or Ph.D. in a discipline related to the language, graduate coursework in linguistics, fluency in French/Spanish, and experience teaching in the language at the undergraduate level.

FRENCH:

Master’s or Ph.D. in Linguistics, research or course work in French/Spanish linguistics, fluency in French/Spanish, ability to teach linguistics in French/Spanish, and experience teaching linguistics courses at the undergraduate level.
