The Department of Genetics is seeking applications for an academic faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (research track). The successful candidate will: (1) Direct the Bioinformatics Core providing bioinformatics service support to faculty across LSUHSC and partner institutions; (2) Conduct research on development and deployment of bioinformatics and computational genomics methods, algorithms, tools, data analysis pipelines and technologies including Machine Learning and AI; (3) Teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in bioinformatics and computational genomics.Responsibilities:Develop a robust bioinformatics and computational genomics research program within BIDS to advance the research mission of the School of Medicine.Lead development and management of the Bioinformatics Core service support operations.Develop and implement the multi-omics data analysis and integration pipelines.Participate in ML and AI development with application to biomedical research and education.Expand the LSU-Health Genomics Data HUB to support collaborative research.Maintain the scientific computing (both hardware and software) infrastructure.Teach bioinformatics courses, programming in R and/or Python and mentor students.Support the Cancer Center’s Cancer Bioinformatics Program to achieve NCI designation.Develop and maintain a sustainable extramurally funded research program.Train researchers on the use of bioinformatics tools through short courses and seminars.Perform other activities consistent with the research, education, and service missions of BIDS.Minimum Qualifications:Required Education:

PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Genomics, Computer Science or closely related quantitative field.Experience:

At least 2 years of postdoctoral experience with a demonstrated publication record in bioinformatics and/or computational genomics.Preferred Qualifications:Preferred Education:

PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Genomics, Computer Science or closely related quantitative field.Preferred Experience:
