Gildner RICA (JLG-RICA), working with residents that may become physically aggressive at times. This position supervises lower-level Security Attendants and receives general supervision from a Security Attendant Manager I. This position is subject to call-in during emergencies and staffing shortages. It may require moving and positioning patients or applying physical restraints. Shifts may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation:

High School diploma or high school equivalency certificate acceptable to the Maryland State Board of Education as described in the Correctional Training Commission regulation.Experience:

Three years of experience providing security to patients or inmates or youths committed by courts to psychiatric hospitals, correctional facilities, or juvenile detention centers.Notes:The above educational requirement is set by the Police and Correctional Training Commission in accordance with Correctional Services Article, Section 8-209 of the Annotated Code of Maryland.Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Correctional Officer/Specialist classifications or Internment/Resettlement Specialist and Correctional specialty codes in the security field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSThe desired candidate should possess experience working with adolescents with emotional disabilities and court-involved youth.LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONSEmployees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSEmployees must meet the selection standards required and successfully complete the training prescribed by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission for a Correctional Officer during their probationary period (Correctional Services Article, Section 8-209).U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien status.Must be at least 21 years of age.A completed background investigation.Oral interview.Physical examination.Employees will be required to provide the facility with a telephone number where they can be reached. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.BENEFITSContractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract, and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible for paying the full premium for these benefits. Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12-month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.FURTHER INSTRUCTIONSOnline applications are highly recommended.
