Assistant or Associate Professor in Global Policy Issues (Human Security)

The Department of Public Policy in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with a July 1, 2025 start date. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Public Policy or a related social science discipline (e.g., political science, economics, etc.) by the time of appointment.The department is looking for individuals who conduct rigorous, policy-relevant research in human security issues, broadly conceived. Possible areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, poverty, political violence, governance, climate change and environmental degradation, social disparities and marginalized populations, human rights, and foreign aid. Scholars who teach and conduct research on low and middle-income countries are especially encouraged to apply. The ability to teach empirical research methods—qualitative, quantitative, or mixed—will be considered an asset.The successful candidate must be prepared to teach core classes in public policy at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels.
