Assistant or Associate Professor of Public Policy

The Department of Public Policy in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with a July 1, 2025 start date. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Public Policy or a related social science discipline (e.g., political science, economics, etc.) by the time of appointment.The department is looking for individuals who conduct rigorous, policy-relevant research and are prepared to teach core classes in the politics of public policy, the policymaking process, political institutions, and/or political behavior at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. Promise of research excellence and strong teaching potential, as well as the capacity to contribute to an active multidisciplinary department, are necessary for consideration. The substantive area of focus is open. Scholars who conduct research related to environmental issues, human welfare, social policy and inequality, health policy, immigration, or economic development are particularly encouraged to apply.Your application should include a cover letter that describes your policy-relevant research and teaching interests, articulates your rationale for seeking a position in an interdisciplinary unit, and explains how your expertise aligns with the requirements of the position.
