Appointment:Tenure-line assistant professor of three-dimensional art to begin July 1, 2025.

Responsibilities:The Art and Art History Department at the University of Puget Sound seeks a full-time tenure-line assistant professor specializing in three-dimensional studio art practices. Our ideal candidate will teach a 3D foundation course, reimagine existing sculpture courses, and contribute to upper division studio art courses and the university's core curriculum. The art complex has well-equipped metal, wood, and ceramics studios. We seek a colleague who is interested in transdisciplinary as well as discipline-specific engagement with materials and methods that can be supported by one or more of these studio spaces. We also value demonstrated skills in collaboration. Candidates are encouraged to articulate how they bring an ethos of valuing diversity to their work as educators.The standard teaching load is three units per semester. Additional duties include professional development, student advising, and participation in departmental service and university governance.

Qualifications:MFA (or equivalent degree) in sculpture, three-dimensional practice, or extended media. The candidate must be a practicing artist. Experience with and a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts setting are important qualifications for this position. 2 years of teaching experience preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:Rank: Assistant ProfessorSalary is commensurate with education and experience. Faculty salaries at the University of Puget Sound are based on a common salary scale based on experience. Assistant Professor salaries begin at $72,765 annualized for an Assistant Professor with a terminal degree in their field in their first year of full-time postdoctoral teaching through $81,428 annualized based on experience.
