Postdoc to Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, School of Nursing

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia, United States, 22904

The University of Virginia School of Nursing is seeking to hire scholars with a developing program of research to become postdoctoral fellows and, upon successful completion of the specified deliverables during the two-year fellowship, receive a direct appointment to our tenure-track faculty as an Assistant Professor.

This is a unique opportunity to establish and accelerate your program of research at a world-class research institution. Postdoctoral fellows will be paired with a faculty mentor and develop an individualized training plan to accomplish their research goals. After two successful years, fellows will transition into a tenure-track assistant professor role.

These positions are important vehicles for advancing the School's strategic priorities in research, teaching, and developing nurse scientists. Candidates must possess at least one degree in nursing, a research doctorate from a research-intensive program, a beginning track record of scholarly dissemination (i.e., publication, grant submission), and a strong match with an established scientist in the School of Nursing. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

We are deeply committed to developing a community that is inclusive and respectful, with diversity as a central part of our excellence. We seek applicants whose experience, teaching, research, and/or community service has prepared them to substantially contribute to this mission. We especially welcome applicants from groups who have been historically underrepresented in nursing, including racial and ethnic minorities, LGBTQ, veterans, people with disabilities, and men.

For nurse candidates, eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in Virginia is required. Joint appointments across UVA may be possible. Selected applicants will be required to complete a background check and health screen prior to their first day of employment per university policy.

Fellows will receive a $67,000 annual salary, $10,000 in discretionary research funds, a dedicated workspace, access to a computer, health benefits, and a dedicated mentor. Fellows are expected to be part of the School's teaching mission as per their experience, qualifications, and preference. An example is co-teaching one course per year.
