Position Summary InformationThe Department of Political Science at Auburn University seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Global Politics to begin August 16, 2025. Areas of interest include contentious politics and authoritarian systems, ethnic politics, and international/comparative political economy. Regional expertise in Sub-Saharan Africa or the Middle East/North Africa is also desirable.The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Comparative Politics and International Relations, as well as the Department's University Core Course: Global Politics and Issues. We seek candidates with strong methodological skills who can contribute to quantitative methodological instruction in the Department, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The standard teaching load is two courses per semester for at least the first three years of appointment. It offers undergraduate majors in political science, law and justice, public administration, and health services administration, master's degree programs in public administration and community planning, and a Ph.D. in public administration and public policy. The political science major is one of the largest in the College of Liberal Arts, consistently enrolling around 275 students, on average.Minimum QualificationsRequired qualifications include a doctoral degree in Political Science, which should be awarded by appointment start date of August 16, 2025. The candidate selected must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally during employment.
