The Urban and Environmental Studies Department at Loyola Marymount University is hiring two tenure track positions beginning August 2025.Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies

The assistant professor of environmental studies will teach lower-division, introductory courses and upper-division courses in their area of specialization. The position is open to applicants with a Ph.D. in a broad range of disciplines – including but not limited to the social sciences, humanities, and interdisciplinary programs in human-environment dynamics – whose scholarship contributes to any relevant dimension of Environmental Studies. We are especially interested in applicants who demonstrate a research agenda that both complements and broadens the faculty’s existing strengths.Assistant/Associate Professor (without tenure) of Urban Studies

The assistant/associate professor of urban studies will play a central role in coordinating the Urban Studies program, including teaching lower- and upper-division courses and advising students on future career pathways. Special consideration will be given to applicants who demonstrate experience with community-based, engaged learning curricula (particularly in urban contexts like Los Angeles). The position is open to applicants with a Ph.D. in a broad range of disciplines whose scholarship contributes to any relevant dimension of Urban Studies.Application Process
