As a Senior Surface Scientist, you will be primarily responsible for advancing X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) to develop novel characterization processes and to partner with technical customers from throughout the company to enable improved insights into manufacturing processes. This role requires communicating results in a clear and concise manner through oral presentations, analytical reports, and technical papers. Furthermore, this Senior Surface Scientist will be committed to mentoring and guiding junior colleagues to develop their XPS technical skills thereby improving organizational capabilities and capacity.ExpectationsDemonstrate proficient knowledge of X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) to contribute to group objectives.Commit to Quality – Approach job responsibilities with a high level of attention to detail to prevent errors in analytical results.Collaborate – Solicit teamwork of group and take ownership of timely and accurate follow-through of group workload and data integrity. Enable groundbreaking technologies and novel semiconductor manufacturing by investigating material properties in partnership with Micron engineers and scientists.Communicate – Work to ensure that information is effectively communicated between coworkers and with management to maintain the most effective laboratory operations. Present reports and findings with appropriate conclusions and recommendations based on the results.Promote a safety-first environment – Identify and promptly report workplace safety issues. Maintain all safety certifications and complete safety goals in a timely and thorough manner.Minimum QualificationsBS, MS, Ph.D., or equivalent in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or an Engineering field.Demonstrated passion for scientific inquiry and tenacity.Experience leveraging XPS.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to sustain clear lines of communication to allow for a quick response to team members' characterization questions.Shift flexibility depending upon business needs.Preferred Qualifications10+ years hands-on experience with X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS).Graduate degree or equivalent experience in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or an Engineering field.Semiconductor industry experience.Demonstrated ability to collaborate successfully with other groups to build strong partner relationships and meet customers’ needs.
