Open until filled;Olympic College seeks faculty who are dedicated to student-centered learning and to fostering an equitable and inclusive educational environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a track record of employing culturally-responsive pedagogy, utilizing disaggregated data to guide instruction, and teaching and mentoring minoritized student populations.The position will be full-time tenure-track in American Sign Language. Primary courses taught are ASL 121, 122, and 123 (American Sign Language I, II, III) as well as the possibility of teaching ASL 101 Fingerspelling and Numbering.Responsibilities

Teach

in-person classes,

day, evening, primarily on the Bremerton campus, and at the Poulsbo and Shelton campuses when requested;Provide quality teaching, including related preparation, grading, and record keeping;Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes by the first day of classes and to the division office as requested;Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments in learning environments and activities to meet those needs;Punctually communicate with students, faculty, staff, and administrators;Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required;Maintain regular office hours for student consultation;Provide academic advising for students;Attend faculty, department, and division meetings and serve on college and community committees.Successful Applicants Will

Deliver instructional course content with excitement and enthusiasm;Use a variety of methods and modes of instruction to ensure student success;Demonstrate a commitment to teaching students with little or no background, as well as the experienced student desiring to further their career;Utilize a variety of assessment activities to evaluate student learning and achievement;Incorporate the use of computer information technology in the delivery of services;Demonstrate success working with individuals and groups representing a wide range of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds;Support diversity in higher education through application of culturally responsive teaching pedagogies;Foster a climate of multi-cultural understanding and appreciation;Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the Olympic College mission, diversity, and a learning-centered climate;Demonstrate success incorporating accessibility and special needs accommodations via course materials and classroom activities;Communicate effectively both orally/or through ASL and in writing;Collaborate successfully with faculty, staff, and students as part of an educational team;Incorporate the use of technology in the delivery of course content and services.Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in American Sign Language or directly related area from an accredited college or university;Experience teaching undergraduate courses in American Sign Language.Desired Qualifications

Master's or Doctoral Degree in an ASL related degree with ASLTA Certification;Demonstrated knowledge of ACTFL World-Readiness Standards for learning languages;Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of using technology in the classroom;Terms of Employment

Faculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment.This is a full-time faculty position contracted on an annual basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments may be a part of the instructional load.Benefits
