Commensurate with experiencePosition Summary:Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) is seeking an Assistant Professor to develop an independent research agenda in Health Policy, Health Economics, Social Epidemiology (with policy focus), Legal Epidemiology, or Public Health Law. The ideal candidate will have experience studying the effect of law and policy on health outcomes, specifically health inequities and/or health equity. The candidate will engage in teaching, research, and service, with a primary focus on health policy research and policy evaluation. The candidate will also participate in the teaching of core and elective health policy and advocacy courses offered to MSM medical students, residents, fellows, and community partners.Minimum Qualifications:PhD, JD, DrPH, or other equivalent doctoral degree with strong research background in Health Policy, Health Economics, Health Outcomes, Social Epidemiology (with policy focus), Legal Epidemiology, Public Health LawMust either have or be already developing a successful, externally funded research portfolioStrong publication recordDocumented experience working in a team science environmentPreferred Qualifications:Demonstrated history of or potential for external research funding and a background in legal epidemiology/legal evaluation/policy analysis.Job Duties:Apply statistical theories, techniques, and methods to gather, analyze, interpret, and/or report health and health policy data and outcomes.Perform valid and useful analyses of data sets in support of task areas using existing data or data to be collected.Interpret results of studies on health laws, policy interventions, evaluation, effectiveness, gap analyses.Employ proven systematic methods for collecting, analyzing, and leveraging information to evaluate healthcare projects, policies, and programs for effectiveness and efficiency.Collaborate with internal and external research partners on research question development, study design, analysis plan, interpretation, and dissemination.Develop and teach courses in health policy, health economics, epidemiology, or other related subjects.Develop and analyze a variety of research data using statistical methods.Provide data management support, including creation of legal and policy data sets and use of secondary health or other outcome data.Develop and maintain documentation and technical reports for data sets including data dictionary, variable index, and format catalogs.Assist researchers in developing appropriate study protocols and analysis plans.Analyze statistical data using software such as SAS, SPSS, SUDAAN, R Studio.Perform ad hoc data analysis at the request of research partners, applicable state, and local public health programs.Provide limited training, technical assistance, and consultative services regarding data sets and serve as a point of contact for analysis.Provide leadership and support for manuscript development, publications, and presentations.The incumbent in this position will engage in teaching, research, and public health policy and practice. This position is in response to the Department of Community Health and Preventive Medicine’s substantial increase in its policy-related research, teaching, and community engagement activities.Pre-Employment/Employment Requirements
