Appointments from the lecturer pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term.The Department typically needs a part-time lecturer or lecturers for the following general education (GE) courses:GEOG 101: Earth Systems and Physical Geography, including U-CourseGEOG 102: Peoples, Places, and EnvironmentsGEOG 106: The American WestGEOG 301W: Global Economic GeographyGEOG 303: Geography and World AffairsGEOG 304: Sustainability and Climate Change IssuesGEOG 305: Mobile, Wired, and Tracked: Our Digital PlanetGEOG 320: Introduction to Land Use PlanningGEOG 352: The United StatesMinimum Qualifications:The minimum education requirement for a lecturer appointment is a Master’s degree or higher degree in Geography or a closely related field from an accredited university by the time of employment.Preferred Qualifications:Applicants with prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level in Geography, particularly in lower-division GE courses, laboratory courses, and/or online courses are also preferred. Bilingual candidates will be given preference.Responsibilities:Lecturer positions in the department carry responsibilities in the areas of developing course content, teaching, grading, holding office hours, and writing a syllabus. The responsibilities include the use of a learning management system (Canvas).
