At the forefront of medical discovery as it relates to understanding the causes of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and dementia, Pennington Biomedical Research Center is a campus of Louisiana State University and conducts basic, clinical and population research. The Center includes Basic Science, Clinical Research, and Population and Public Health, enabling both focused research and translational science. Research at Pennington Biomedical is supported broadly by multiple NIH Research Centers, and includes approximately 65 faculty and 20 postdoctoral fellows who comprise a network of 44 laboratories and 13 highly specialized core service facilities. Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Human Translational Physiology Laboratory.This is a postdoctoral fellowship in the Human Translational Physiology Laboratory for training in energy balance and carbohydrate metabolism research, under the mentorship of Dr. Eric Ravussin. The fellowship will provide training in clinical and translational research, clinical trial management including pharmaceutical trials, as well as develop skills in critical thinking, manuscript writing and grant writing necessary for establishing an independent research career. Specific expertise will be developed in understanding and performing measurements of energy balance (intake and expenditure), physical activity and body composition in metabolically healthy or unhealthy people with overweight or obesity.The fellow will join a large multidisciplinary team and receive hands-on training in ongoing NIH and pharma funded clinical trials. Importantly, data analysis and writing via access to existing datasets will be encouraged.
