Job Description (Summary)

Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy seeks a Director of Development responsible for the development, management and promotion of all aspects of the school’s fundraising efforts, including individual, major, annual, capital and planned giving as well as donor relationships, database, fundraising communications and alumni affairs. The Director of Development will serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team providing strategic leadership in regards to the school’s development efforts and managing the Development Department and budget.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Support the Head of School and its leadership through active participation on the Executive Leadership Team, serving as a positive role model who supports peers, the mission, vision and core values of the School.

Manage the Development Department team consisting of a Development Coordinator, Donor Data Specialist and part-time Alumni Relations Coordinator.

Work as part of an integrated team to establish and implement overall goals and strategies for increasing private support to the school.

Develop an Annual Fund program, working with members of the department to implement annual strategic plans. Responsible for meeting or exceeding annual fundraising goals through direct solicitation of individuals.

Manage current and future capital campaigns.

Develop a comprehensive stewardship program and recognition plan.

Oversee all development operations including gift processing, acknowledgments, campaign tracking, reporting and ensuring the integrity of the donor database.

Develop and implement a Planned Giving Program.

Oversee all grant requests for the school.

Serve as primary liaison to the Board of Trustees in fundraising matters.

Work with staff and the Board of Trustees to evaluate progress in meeting strategic objectives, and when necessary, propose revisions of the development portions of the Strategic Plan, including staffing and working with the Advancement Committee.

Act as an advisor to the Head of School on development matters relating to the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Five (5)+ years non-profit development experience with a proven record of securing gifts, preferably in a leadership role

Personal qualities of integrity, collaboration and highly detail-oriented

Demonstrated skills in the development and implementation of a broad-based fundraising program including capital fundraising, endowment building, planned giving, annual giving and grant writing

Strong experience in Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Demonstrated knowledge of CRMs, Raiser’s Edge a plus.

Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building skills

Strong verbal, written, communication, and presentation skills

Strong planning, collaboration, problem-solving skills

Experience and demonstrated results in managing a team

Physically able to perform assigned duties, including:

Ability to sit at computer and keyboard for moderate periods

Mobility sufficient to move about campus including climbing stairs

Sight and hearing adequate to perform the duties of the job, including communicating clearly

Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds on an occasional basis

Education:

Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree
