MARTIAL ARTS INSTRUCTOR - (PART-TIME)OLIVE-HARVEY COLLEGEOlive-Harvey College is currently seeking a part-time Martial Arts Instructor. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in the classroom by developing and using effective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs and engage the student in critical thinking and problem-solving.GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIESTeaching Martial Arts & Self-Defense to students ranging from beginning students to advanced studentsKnowledge of best practices for conducting martial arts classesProvide quality instruction to studentsEstablish and follow a format that allows students to progress in learningGive physical, written and verbal tests to studentsParticipate in the presentation of rank and certificationsLead students in public presentations including demonstrations, recitals, and seminarsQUALIFICATIONSHigh School Diploma or equivalent required1 or more years of experience teaching martial arts, specifically Kung FuCertified rank of Instructor or higherKnowledge of hand-to-hand combat and self-defense techniquesPhysically capable of teaching martial artsExcellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with a diverse group of staff and students requiredExperience with a diverse, multi-lingual student population is desired, as is a commitment to the open access mission of the community college.We are an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.Thank you for your interest in City Colleges of Chicago.
