Self-Defense Instructor - Continuing Education

SELF-DEFENSE INSTRUCTOR - PART TIMEOLIVE-HARVEY COLLEGEConsider joining Olive-Harvey College’s Continuing Education Department as a Self-defense Instructor. This qualified instructor will be responsible for teaching self-defense strategies to students. The Self-defense class will focus on students learning and practicing self-defense techniques that can be used in unexpected situations. Explain and demonstrate the techniques and then guide students as they practice these new skills until they can use them effectively.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Instructor provides professional, engaging and effective group classes. Provide instruction and coaching to class attendees.Exercise safety awareness and practices.Follows and enforces department policies, rules and regulations while maintaining a friendly attitude.Leads group through warm ups, stretches, skills focus, and sparring. Strong communication skills to deliver course content.Ensure that the class attendees are satisfied with the lessons.Begin and end class on time.Accurately record class participation and collect participants' surveys at the end of each class.QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or equivalent.Experience in Self-Defense/Martial Arts required.1-year teaching and/or training experience in Self-Defense/Martial Arts.Valid CPR card required.Must be able to work with participants individually and in groups, using various demonstration methods.Must be able to work with diverse age groups.Must communicate professionally and have a positive attitude at all times.We are an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.Thank you for your interest in City Colleges of Chicago!Additional Information
