Olive-Harvey College, One of the City Colleges of Chicago, is seeking Experienced Water Safety Instructors with sound knowledge of proper swim techniques and water safety rules to teach group and/or private Learn-to-Swim lessons to children and adults. This position serves to inspire, motivate, and empower individuals of all skill levels to learn in an environment that is safe and comfortable to accomplish swimming goals.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESTeach Aquatic Safety in and around waterAssess swimmers existing aquatic capabilities and plan swim lessons to teach to the level best suited for their unique swimming abilities and progressive developmentIdentify inefficient swimming techniques and offer modifications to correctMonitor students to prevent accidents or potential injuriesRecognize and respond swiftly and efficiently to all aquatic emergenciesComplete necessary aquatic daily reports and/or incident formsParticipate in In-Service TrainingMaintain a clean and safe aquatic facilityEffectively work as a TEAM with other Aquatic Instructors, Lifeguards, Facilities and ManagementFlexibility to work early morning, day, evening, and/or weekend hours as neededMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSResumeHigh School Diploma or GEDAmerican Red Cross Certification(s): Water Safety Instructor or Basic Swim Instructor, First Aid, and CPR with AED (Valid)Pre-Employment Aquatic skills assessmentPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSPrior Experience as Certified Lifeguard and Water Safety InstructorLifeguard certification (Valid)
