Position descriptionTenure Track Assistant Professor of Global Anglophone Literatures of the Nineteenth Century.The Department of English at the University of California, Davis, seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Global Anglophone Literatures of the Nineteenth Century. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in Romanticism and its global legacies and/or Anglophone literatures of South Asia, the Pacific, or the Caribbean. We seek candidates whose research and teaching situate British literary history and the study of English in a global frame, drawing on postcolonial studies, settler colonial studies, and/or comparative approaches.Applicants should submit a two-page cover letter, CV, writing sample (up to thirty (30) pages), three (3) letters of recommendation, and statement of contributions to diversity through the online application form: [https://recruit.ucdavis.edu/JPF06683]. Innovative research and teaching that fills curricular needs in one or more announced subfields (i.e., Romanticism, South Asian, Pacific, and/or Caribbean Anglophone Literature) and successfully situates British literary history and the study of English in a global frame, drawing on postcolonial studies, settler-colonial studies, and/or comparative approaches. Promise as a teacher of undergraduate and graduate literature courses.
