The Department of Sociology at the University of California, Davis, invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level for scholars conducting theoretically-driven, empirical research using quantitative and/or computational methods. The expected total salary is $104,000-$127,000, commensurate with experience. Applicants' research and teaching should align with one or more of the department's existing strengths, including race/ethnicity, immigration, gender/sexuality, education, culture, political sociology, and crime and law. We are especially interested in candidates with the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate method courses, and whose research interests align with University and College strategic priorities, including Data Science and Informatics and a designated emphasis in Computational Social Science.We seek a scholar with a strong commitment to quality teaching and mentorship. Teaching duties include four (quarter-system) courses per academic year at the introductory, advanced undergraduate, and graduate levels. Supervision of graduate students, student advising, curricular development, and performance of university service are expected of the successful candidate.We expect the scholar to be active in the discipline of sociology and to contribute to campus efforts to diversify the university community, consonant with the population of the state of California. We especially welcome applicants whose research, teaching, service and/or community outreach demonstrably attest to their commitment to the inclusion of under-represented and/or non-majority individuals into their respective areas of specialization.Applications must be submitted through the online application portal found at:
