We currently have an opening for Safety Manager.The Branch Safety Manager is responsible for managing safety programs and enforcing all safety rules and procedures set forth by Evergreen North America / GEM and the plants that are worked in. This role ensures OSHA, MSHA, DOT, EPA, and State DEQ safety compliance requirements for the assigned location.As a professional member of the branch and regional management team, the Branch Safety Manager must display a high level of leadership in:SafetyTrainingEmployee motivation and developmentDeveloping continuous improvement strategies for safety meetings and general safety department efficiency improvementImproving communications and safety department respect with fellow employeesMaintaining positive working relationships with our customersFacilitating the implementation of the elements of OSHA VPP for the branch and qualified facilitiesThe Branch Safety Manager will interface with corporate, regional, and branch management to ensure all safety and training issues are communicated and compliant with State and Federal standards.This role requires working plant turnarounds and shutdowns as deemed important by branch management and assisting in the interviewing, hiring, and training of new employees. The Branch Safety Manager will also be responsible for ongoing training of Evergreen North America / GEM employees as required by the company.Summary of the Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:Perform job safety observations and audits, entering results into our safety management system.Conduct weekly/bi-monthly/monthly safety meetings and document findings.Participate in special training meetings, annual review training, and all periodic safety training updates.Investigate and resolve near misses and accidents in the safety management system.Ensure all training, medical, driver, and DOT employee records are current according to corporate guidelines.Timely gather, enter, and analyze data from job safety observations into the safety management system.Communicate job safety observation results on statistical deficiency analysis and employee participation.Ensure timely completion and reporting of quarterly hose testing to branch and corporate safety offices.Consult with account managers and field supervisors to review job procedures for safe work practices.Maintain SDS's for chemicals used at assigned branch locations.Conduct periodic facility/branch compliance audits to ensure adherence to compliance standards.Work according to plant turnaround and shutdown schedules as required by branch management.Create PowerPoint slides with monthly branch safety statistics for Monthly Operational Review (MOR) meetings.Participate in all assigned plant contractor safety meetings and audits.Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all plant safety and operational personnel.Gather and report contractor qualification information as required.Engage with key client organizations to understand their policies and provide input into policy development.Be willing to work flexible hours during times of increased work activity.Be available for after-hours calls in case of emergency or immediate customer need.RequirementsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Pass medical exam and drug test.Able to climb ladders and stairs as needed.Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.QUALIFICATIONS:Educational:Degree in Occupational Health and Safety and/or 5 years experience and a safety certification.Work Experience:5 years of supervisory experience in Industrial Cleaning, Chemical, Refining, Paper, or Power industry.Basic understanding of Federal, State, and Local OSHA & DOT rules and regulations.
