This role supports the advancement of both intraocular and extraocular materials. The Senior Scientist will play a key role in developing innovative solutions for contact lens care and related areas. This position involves formulating and optimizing products with an emphasis on material interactions, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in formulation and antimicrobial material development.In this role, a typical day will include:Assist/lead the development of new contact lens care solutions, including cleaning, disinfecting, and conditioning products.Lead the formulation iteration that balance efficacy, safety, and compatibility with various contact lens materials.Conduct research on new and emerging technology, evaluating their efficacy and safety for ophthalmic use.Support the selection and application of formulation and materials.Provide technical guidance to junior scientists and team members.Contribute innovation in formulation science, incorporating new technologies and methodologies to enhance product performance.Experience:Ph.D. degree in Material Science, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.3-5 years of experience in formulation development or related field.Knowledge of preservatives and antimicrobial agents used in ophthalmic formulations.Expertise in materials science, particularly in relation to contact lens materials and their interactions with care solutions.Experience with advanced contact lens technologies or emerging materials is a plus.Good problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.What You'll Bring to Alcon:Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+6 yrs; M.S.+0 yrs).The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.2 years of relevant experience.How You Can Thrive at Alcon:Join Alcon's mission to provide outstanding, innovative products and solutions to improve sight, improve lives, and grow your career!Alcon provides a robust benefits package including health, life, retirement, flexible time off, and much more!Travel Requirements: 0-5%.Relocation assistance: Yes.Sponsorship available: Yes.
