supporting the
U.S. Development of Formulation Team , a typical day will include:Performing lab-scale polymer synthesis, modification, purification, formulation, and characterization.
Conducting polymer formulation, process, and characterization in a research and development laboratory environment.
Being highly motivated in laboratory research tasks with strong hands-on bench experience.
Demonstrating understanding of materials' technology and lens production processes to ensure compatibility between material and process. Identifying and optimizing novel materials for use in lens, saline, and lens care product formulations.
Understanding the structure/property relationship in polymers, specifically the relationship between molecular architecture/morphology and bulk contact lens properties.
Handling, using, storing, and disposing of all lab-used chemicals as outlined in MSDS, SOP, and other company-prescribed, state, and federal guidelines. Complying with all company-established Health, Safety, and Environment operational requirements.
Using relevant statistical techniques and methods to plan and execute experiments and analyze experimental data.
Providing timely communication on planned and completed work to project and functional team members and leadership through written reports and presentations.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +8 yrs; Assoc. +4 yrs)
The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
Work hours: 40 hours
Travel: 10%
