The Buck Institute for Research on Aging is looking for a

Senior Research Associate (SRA)

to perform high-throughput screening experiments and work as an independent contributor and in support of a team.JOB SUMMARYWe are looking for an

SRA

with specific high-throughput screening and laboratory automation experience to design and perform experiments together with a team of scientists at the Buck Institute. This is a laboratory

managerial role.Responsibilities include:Upkeeping a robotic high-throughput work cell.Supplies ordering.Maintaining contact with field technicians.Understanding the operation of all instruments and workflows in the work cell.Ability to design and implement assays using the standard instrument control software in consultation with the scientists involved in the program. The program uses chemical library screens and cellular phenotyping using microscopy in the context of human aging.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS$80,000 - $105,000 commensurate with experienceExciting, collaborative work environment at the forefront of science using state-of-the-art techniques.Generous benefits package including health insurance, paid parental leave, vacation/sick, and 401(k) with 5% employer match.EDUCATION & TECHNICAL EXPERIENCEMS in Biomedical Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Chemistry, or a related field + 5 years experienceProficient with robotic liquid handling systems, such as JANUS or BiomekExperience with systems comprised of integration of multiple instrumentsFamiliar with library screens with chemical libraries larger than 1,000 compoundsKnowledge of measurement and assay technologiesAlgorithmic thinking is required, scripting or coding experience is welcomeKnowledge and practical experience with basic biochemistry and cell biologyCell culturing experienceOTHER SKILLSStrong motivation to perform researchExcellent technical and problem-solving abilityPrecise attention to detail and accuracyWorks well both with other scientists under general supervision as well as independentlyExcellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skillsFull training in specialized aspects of the work will be givenHOW TO APPLY:Please apply online by submitting your CV along with a cover letter describing your research interests and contact information for 2 references.Our success will ultimately change healthcare.
