13Position Summary

This position will join a multidisciplinary team at the UNM Prevention Research Center focused on prevention research and evaluation. The Associate Scientist 2 will play a central role in the implementation of community engaged research and evaluation in the areas of community nutrition and physical activity. This will require engaging with staff, community partners, and students. The position oversees quantitative data collection and appropriate analysis under the guidance of the principal investigator. In collaboration with the PI, the Associate Scientist 2 will participate in the interpretation of data and development of reports, as well as presentations and manuscripts, based on findings. The position requires some day travel with occasional overnight stays in partner communities. Must be willing to travel to partner communities throughout New Mexico and have a valid New Mexico driver's license.Duties and Responsibilities

Undertakes and collaborates in the development and implementation of community-engaged research studies focused on injury and violence prevention and related topics.Establishes and implements research protocols and procedures for measurement of behavior change.Oversees survey data collection activities and processes in accordance with project protocols and procedures.Develops and submits research studies to the Human Research Protections Office.Engages and recruits community partners and sites across New Mexico for participation in research studies.Conducts project meetings and works collaboratively within a team environment.Travels to partner communities as necessary for project activities.Conducts literature reviews and synthesizes findings related to research and other prevention projects.Conducts appropriate quantitative and qualitative data analyses.Collaborates in the development of project summaries, reports, and manuscripts based on findings.Develops and conducts presentations based on research and findings.Contributes to the development of related grant proposals.Oversees daily activities of lower level staff, students, and interns in the conduct of data collection, data entry, and program implementation activities.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.Minimum Job Requirements

Master's degree in public health or related field with at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.Conditions of Employment

For individual positions in which driving is a job requirement, a valid NM driver's license and valid UNM driver's permit will be required.Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.Minimum Qualifications

Previous experience in community-engaged research.Experience in survey data collection and analysis.At least one year of experience with quantitative data analysis software (e.g., SAS, Stata, R).Skill in organizing resources, establishing priorities, and working efficiently.Ability to plan, assess, and evaluate programs.Experience conducting literature reviews.Campus
