Description

JOB SUMMARY:Assist General Counsel in managing all legal and risk issues for Monroe Group, Ltd., Steele Properties LLC, Steele Properties Holdings LLC and their affiliates (collectively, the "Companies") including risk management, insurance claim administration, real estate and tax credit transactions, corporate governance, service contracts, property management issues, compliance and employee and tenant related matters. Recommend, develop, support, implement and audit company policies, procedures and positions on legal and compliance issues. Exercise management responsibility over the legal affairs of the Companies, providing counsel to the senior management team regarding the legal impact of organizational decisions and negotiations.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Protect the interest of the Companies by managing risk, liability, and financial exposure.Assist the General Counsel is managing all litigation filed against the Companies, including coordination with and oversight of outside counsel and applicable insurance carriersOversee management and resolution of all insurance claims, facilitate investigations and coverage evaluationsAssist Chief Operating Officer and entire operations teams on responding to tenant complaints and disputes, including management of company eviction processAssist the General Counsel in managing all legal issues relating to the Companies' corporate andreal estate transactions.Provide legal counsel on issues arising from actual or anticipated lawsuits.Anticipate and guard against legal risks facing the company.Conduct and coordinate research into a variety of legal issues.Draft and administer complex vendor, client, and employment contracts.Investigate and evaluate the legal implications and impact of legal compliance issues and recommend operational changes or alternative policies and procedures.Receive and investigate inquiries from the Companies and its executives on matters including, but not limited to taxes, employment, contracts, insurance, risk management, licensing, and organization policy.Draft and negotiate binding contractual agreements between the Companies and third parties, as needed.Serve as a resource to the General Counsel on the Companies' legal structures and governance.Assist in the direction of work and provide coaching and mentoring for professional development where applicable.Maintain responsibility for pertinent budgetary and strategic planning matters within the assigned management areas in partnership with internal managers.Other duties as assigned.Requirements

REQUIREMENTSKnowledge of federal, state, and local laws, including landlord-tenant laws.Knowledge of real estate and finance transactions.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Licensed as an attorney qualified to practice law in the state of Colorado.EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:Combination of the completion of a Bachelor's Degree and Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and a minimum of three years of corporate or real estate law experience.Strong background in risk management, insurance claim administration, employment law and real estate preferred.Familiarity with fair housing laws and HUD regulations is preferredPHYSICAL DEMANDSWill frequently utilize their hands and fingersWill be frequently required to sit and occasionally stand or walkMay be required to bend, twist, stoop, and or kneelWORK ENVIRONMENTWill be exposed to an indoor office environment.
