Kenai Peninsula College is accepting applications for a Psychology Faculty at its Kachemak Bay Campus in Homer, Alaska.

This position will teach various lower-division courses and a limited number of upper-division courses in a wide variety of face-to-face and distance delivery formats (i.e., asynchronous, hyflex, Zoom, etc.). Commonly taught lower-division courses include Introduction to Psychology and Lifespan Development. Other course offerings will be based on the successful applicant’s expertise plus KPC and/or UAA Psychology department needs. Opportunities for summer teaching are available. This position will be responsible for teaching courses consistent with departmental course content guides, holding office hours, and developing/modifying curriculum as needed for new delivery and teaching modalities. This position will also mentor and advise undergraduate students, many of whom are working on completing UAA’s Psychology major remotely from the Kenai Peninsula.

This position supports the University of Alaska bipartite mission which includes a 5-part workload with four parts teaching and one part university/community service.

To thrive in this role, the successful candidate needs strong interpersonal and communication skills in teaching and advising environments involving a variety of cultures, backgrounds and demographics. We prefer candidates that have experience in developing and teaching psychology courses while using a variety of instructional technologies (i.e., Blackboard, audio and video components, lecture capture, etc.). Experience with universal design, culturally responsive teaching, and other pedagogies that support effective learning and student engagement are also valued.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctorate in Psychology or related field.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Kenai Peninsula College, Kachemak Bay Campus in Homer Alaska. This is a full-time, 9-month, Faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and
