The School of Arts & Sciences at UAS is seeking an academic advisor to support our students in the departments of Humanities, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences.The advising relationship is a key component in ensuring student success and plays an integral role in ensuring that Juneau’s A&S students have a clear pathway to achieving their goals. Moreover, as an advisor, your work will directly impact the retention and recruitment goals of the School of Arts & Sciences and the university as a whole.Our ideal candidate is someone who demonstrates a deep desire to see students flourish and thrive and a commitment to providing excellent service to current and prospective students, faculty, staff, and the university community. We are also looking for someone with an appreciation and understanding of the richness and diversity of the academic, cultural, socioeconomic, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds present in Southeast Alaska.The University of Alaska Southeast is a regional, comprehensive, open-enrollment university located on the spectacular Inside Passage of Southeast Alaska. Our campus is located in the Tongass National Forest and sits on the shore of Auke Lake and Auke Bay, about 10 miles north of downtown Juneau.If this sounds like a good fit, we want to hear from you!Minimum Qualifications:Two years of academic advising experience or two years of working with college students on issues such as advising, academic success, academic coaching, counseling, orientation, student support, or retention services.

Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited post-secondary institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in a relevant area of study.

Experience using databases like Banner, OnBase, and/or Navigate (EAB).

Knowledge and skills for using DegreeWorks or similar degree tracking system.

Experience working with faculty and students on a college/university campus.Position Details:This position is located on the Southeast campus in Juneau. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage.
