The UAA Department of Recreation is currently accepting applications for Sales Associates. The UAA Department of Recreation is located in the AVIS Alaska Sports Complex, a diverse division designed to assist students in meeting their academic and athletic goals and to provide all UAA students the opportunity for physical development on the Anchorage campus.The department's mission is to support the educational mission of the University of Alaska Anchorage; to protect and promote the safety, health, and well-being of our students; guide and support our student-athletes in their pursuit of academic and athletic excellence; produce graduates and honorable citizens; and be actively engaged in our University community.A successful candidate will encompass the following skills and abilities:Ability to process basic math computations and accurate accounting of monies received and tickets sold.Ability to use a calculator and cash register.Ability to reconcile cash receipts.Cash/check/credit card handling skills.Attention to detail skills.Customer service skills.Help in emergency protocols.Proper food handling skills.Problem-solving skills.Can work independently as well as in a team environment.No prior experience is required for this position.Minimum Qualifications:Required:

Food handling certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date required for concessions workers.PCI compliant within 30 days of the job start date.UA Safe Title IX completed training or completion of training within 30 days of the job start date.Behavior Based Safety (BBS) completed training or completion of training within 30 days of the job start date.Workplace Harassment Prevention completed training or completion of training within 30 days of the job start date.To be eligible for student employment at UAA, a student must:

be enrolled in the university system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; orfor employment between semesters, have successfully completed six or more UA credit hours in the preceding semester and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester; andnot work hours that interfere with class attendance; andhave at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average.

Preferred: AED, CPR, and First Aid certification.Position Details:Student Assistant 2 - $12.03/hourPlease attach a resume, cover letter, and the names and contact information for three (3) professional references with your application.This is a student position and is restricted to no more than 20 hours per week while taking classes. Students may work between semesters if they successfully completed six credits or more the previous semester and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester.
