October 2024The Assistant Athletic Director, Sports Medicine position reports to the Director of Athletics and oversees all sports medicine for the athletics department. This individual will ensure that student athletes on the NJCAA-sponsored athletics teams are safe by monitoring practice and games, evaluating injuries, and providing therapeutic intervention, rehabilitation, and treatment of injuries. In addition, this role will oversee strength and conditioning training to build athletes' strength and avoid further injury. This individual will have administrative duties to assist the Athletics Director with daily supervision of RCC intercollegiate athletics. This is an important role that requires extensive student and coach interaction, and the ability to confidently interact and engage with a diverse population.

Job Requirements:Leads the Sports Medicine services by setting the tone/culture within the Athletics Department.Improves quality of care for student-athletes to prevent injuries and remediate/recuperate as quickly as possible within medical directives and optimizes athletics performance and overall health and wellness.Provide daily practice and game coverage for all NJCAA teams.Develops and implements policies and programs designed to promote the health, safety, and performance of RCC student-athletes.Develop, implement and oversee strength and conditioning program for student athletes to build strength and avoid injuries.Assists Athletics Director with supervising and coordinating intercollegiate athletics.Assists with reviewing and monitoring the academic progress of all student athletes.Assists with attending practices to ensure compliance and management.Assists in coordinating travel arrangements for student athletes.Refer student-athletes to the proper physician or medical professional on or off-campus for further evaluation of their mental health issues, injuries, and illnesses as appropriate.Create schedules based on practice and game calendars, providing morning, afternoon, late-night, and weekend coverage of practices and games.Manage health records and forms for student-athletes, documenting injury evaluations, treatments, and referrals and ensuring that every athlete has completed the clearance process before participating.Maintain communications with health-care-related departments on campus, enabling athletes to be provided with multiple avenues for physical and mental healing.Perform administrative work as necessary.Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.Knowledge Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of orthopedic and musculoskeletal disorders and how to treat themAbility to examine and clinically diagnose athletic-related injuries and illnessesAbility to recommend a course of rehabilitation for orthopedic and athletic-related injuries and illnessesKnowledge of injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, and emergency careFamiliarity with insurance policiesAbility to operate a computer and maintain electronic medical recordsAbility to maintain multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasksSelf-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skillsAbility to engage well with a diverse populationAbility to work well under pressure, and to serve as first responder during gamesAbility to work well in a team environmentPhysical Abilities:This position is active in nature; continuous movement is required. The ability to have continuous oral and written communication with students, medical professionals, coaches, co-workers, and supervisors is essential. Repetitive movements, occasional lifting of up to 45 pounds, reaching, lifting, stooping, climbing, and the ability to read a computer screen, detect color-coding, and read fine print will be expected.Qualifications:Master's degree in athletic training required2-4 years of previous experience in athletic training requiredCertification by BOC in Athletic Training and as a Licensed Athletic Trainer by the Massachusetts Board of Allied Health requiredCertification in Emergency Cardiac Care (CPR/AED) requiredExceptional attention to detail requiredValid driver's license required

Additional Information:Compensation:
