Job DescriptionOur Research Scientists are our Inventors. We identify and target steps in disease mechanisms or pathways that could be inhibited or enhanced. Using innovative thinking, state-of-the-art facilities, and robust scientific methodology, we collaborate to discover the next medical breakthrough.This position is for a Statistician who will contribute to identifying, developing, and validating oncology biomarkers that can be used to support our company's oncology programs and/or serve as companion diagnostics. The position is also responsible for supporting regulatory filing related to oncology biomarkers. This position requires solid statistical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and strong programming capability. A successful applicant is expected to be self-motivated and innovative.Primary responsibilities:Lead translational oncology biomarker statistical analysis plan development, statistical analyses, discussion, results sharing, and publication.Provide statistical support for companion diagnostics development including cut point selection and bridging analysis for regulatory approval.Interact with Discovery and Translational, Clinical, Regulatory, Statistical Programming, and other Research Laboratories scientists in analyzing oncology biomarker and clinical data.Primary activities:Serve as the lead statistician to support biomarker research for early oncology programs or late-stage oncology indications.Develop scientific statistical analysis plans for oncology biomarker projects.Analyze biomarker and clinical data and interpret the results.Prepare oral presentations and written reports to effectively communicate analysis results to multidisciplinary teams.Identify technical or other potential problems arising in the biomarker projects, propose solutions, and carry them out.Participate in biomarker-related meetings to gain high-level understanding of the projects and ensure the quality of the data and the analysis.Conduct research for innovative statistical methods and their applications in biomarker projects.Position Qualifications :Education Minimum Requirement:A PhD degree in statistics/biostatistics or related areas, orA Master’s degree in statistics/biostatistics with at least 4 years of relevant work experience.Required Experience and Skills:Solid knowledge of statistical analysis methodologies especially in Bayesian inference (including hierarchical modeling), logistic regression, and survival analysis.Solid knowledge of statistical and data processing software, especially R language.Strong oral and written communication skills.Ability to function well both independently and collaboratively.Strong project management skills.Demonstrated interest in statistical methodology research and in the application of novel methods to real-world data analysis problems.Demonstrated ability to learn, be proactive and motivated, and consistently focus on details and execution.Ability to collaborate with scientists and work on multidisciplinary teams.Preferred Experience and Skills:Knowledge and experience in Bayesian modeling and analysis with JAGS, Stan, or customized MCMC procedure using R is highly desired.A specialization and relevant job experience in oncology.An understanding of the process to generate biomarkers, and the biology of disease and immunology.Employees working in roles that the Company determines require routine collaboration with external stakeholders, such as customer-facing commercial, or research-based roles, will be expected to comply not only with Company policy but also with policies established by such external stakeholders.
