Position Summary:

Work with a team of data scientists and machine learning engineers to develop and deploy GenAI applications supporting Walmart's finance department. Build state-of-the-art LLM models by training with massive amounts of Walmart data utilizing open-source or in-house tools.

About the Team:Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.

What you'll do:

Tackle complex retail challenges using Generative AI to develop intelligent solutions.Employ deep learning methods and architectures to fine-tune NLP models.Collaborate with cross-functional teams in product, business, and engineering to address cutting-edge retail problems with AI.Build and refine NLP and recommendation systems.Develop data science models tailored for retail and e-commerce.Deploy trained ML models to the cloud for business applications.Lead model development and guide team members through building, testing, and deploying ML models at scale.

What you'll bring:Proven experience in data science, machine learning, and optimization models.Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or Econometrics.Proficiency in Python, Spark, Scala, or R, using open-source frameworks like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.Excellent understanding of AI/ML/DL and Statistics, with strong coding skills in related libraries and frameworks.Significant experience with SQL and programming languages such as Python, PySpark, and/or Scala.Knowledge of deployment and scaling best practices.Effective technical communication skills for non-technical stakeholders.Experience leading and mentoring junior associates.

Job Description:As a Staff Data Scientist, you will work on pioneering Generative AI projects to solve complex retail challenges. Your responsibilities will include building NLP and recommendation systems, developing data science models for retail, deploying trained ML models to the cloud, and leading model development efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position:Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 4 years' experience in an analytics related field.Masters degree in the same fields and 2 years' experience in an analytics related field.6 years' experience in an analytics or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:Outlined below are the optional preferred qualifications for this position:Data science, machine learning, optimization models.PhD in related fields.Successful completion of assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R.Experience with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards.
