FOOD SERVICE SUPERVISOR 2 .WORK SCHEDULE100% FTE, DaysTues-Sat 5:30 am- 2:00pmTemporary appointmentPOSITION HIGHLIGHTSSupervises Food Service employees, Porters, Cooks and Dietary Unit Aides in the preparation, production, service, cash sales from patient family guest tray and maintenance activities.DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTIONThe Patient Nutrition department supports UWMC's mission by delivering extraordinary experiences with compassionate evidence-based care, unforgettable customer service, and fresh and nutritious food for patients, families, and the greater community.Our vision is to create a supportive and empowering workplace for all, provide unparalleled experiences for our customers and patients, and improve the quality of life and health of the public.PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESEnsure sanitation and food safety standards in work area. With delegated authority, interviews and recommends selection of applicants, trains new employees, assigns and schedules work, acts upon leave requests, conducts annual performance evaluations, annual compliance, in-services and recommends disciplinary action.Update job descriptions as needed.Actively contribute to team processes, maintain a cooperative work environment and work to improve quality of food, presentation and services provided to patients.Ensure all equipment is turned on and not stacked too high.Ensure steam tables are filled with efficient water level. Check in employees for each station.Make employee replacements as needed. Supervise room service meal preparation. Ensure food safety, quality and temperatures, take action as needed.Supervise operation, clean up and ensure a free workflow of tray delivery within a 45-minute deadline. Work with the Expeditor to ensure tray accuracy.Continue to monitor trays delivered in a timely manner and maintain temperature.Huddle with staff daily. Review daily and weekly special menus and update any changes. Supervise dish-room clean up, cart cleaning, wrapping of silverware and good workflow.Conduct and summarize Q.A. monitor. Follow up any incomplete tasks. Continue supervising. Order China, Dinex products, silverware, and other kitchen supplies and equipment as needed.Requisitions routine repairs, reports major repair needs, monitor and follow up Temptrak system.REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONSPossession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment.Associate Degree in food service management, nutritional care or related field.High School Diploma, or GED Certificate, with four years of experience in an industrial, commercial or institutional food service or patient tray service including one year as a lead, supervisor, or equivalent.ABOUT UW MEDICAL CENTER-MONTLAKEUW Medical Center is an acute care academic medical center located in Seattle with two campuses: Montlake and Northwest.
