No applications will be accepted after the job closing date.Positions at the Water Boards may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position.The State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Water Quality has an opening for an Environmental Scientist in the Surface Water Section/Industrial-Construction Unit. The incumbent is expected to be courteous and provide timely responses to internal/external customers, follow through on commitments, and solicit and consider internal/external customer input when completing work assignments. This position is to work on National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Stormwater Construction and Industrial General Permits (Permits).Responsibilities include:Apply scientific concepts and principles about the environment, hydrology, aquatic resources, biological resources, and habitat protection in the reissuance and implementation of the Permits.Support the reissuance and implementation of the statewide National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Stormwater Industrial and Construction General Permits.Review and analyze stormwater data submitted by dischargers.Create maps and other data visualizations.Support and respond to inquiries received in the Stormwater Help Desk.Prepare effective presentation materials and make logical, comprehensible, and convincing written and oral presentations at public hearings and other meetings as required.Communicate effectively on various technical and intra/interagency roundtable or committees.Represent State Water Board policies before the general public, special interest groups, technical committees, and government agencies.Candidates must possess essential personal qualifications including integrity, initiative, dependability, good judgment, the ability to work cooperatively with others, and the ability to perform the assigned duties of the class.If the position requires driving, you must possess a current and valid driver’s license.
