tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor positions in Architecture with teaching responsibilities in

design studio and history/theory and,
2)
design studio and building technology, commencing August 2025.APLA has a 118-year history of educating architects, interior architects, landscape architects, and planners. The school contributes to the profession and to communities both locally and globally through creative work. APLA is comprised of four allied disciplines: Architecture, Interior Architecture, Environmental Design, and Landscape Architecture, and offers both bachelor’s and master’s degree options. The school resides in the College of Architecture, Design and Construction along with the School of Industrial and Graphic Design and the McWhorter School of Building Science.Assistant/Associate Professor History and Theory
(with an emphasis on the interrelationship between history/theory and studio teaching)ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibilities of the appointment include teaching, research, and service. The successful candidates for the position will be able to teach undergraduate architecture studios, lecture courses, and/or seminars/workshops. Candidates will be expected to develop and maintain an active program of scholarly and creative work within the discipline. APLA is particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to the excellence of the academic community through their teaching, research, outreach, and service. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.Required QualificationsCandidates must hold a Master of Architecture, Master of Science in Architecture, or a Bachelor of Architecture and a terminal degree in a related field, at the time employment begins. The candidates selected for these positions must be able to meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time of employment and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.Desired QualificationsDesired qualifications include: a Ph.D. in history/theory, demonstrated ability to teach design studio and history/theory courses in a professional degree program, evidence of outstanding design skills, evidence of research/scholarship and the ability to develop and maintain an active research/creative scholarly program, holding a professional license in Architecture, or completion of the experience requirements of the AXP program.Required submission materials:1) a letter of interest that identifies an area of history/theory specialization and a scholarly plan;2) a curriculum vitae;3) names, addresses, telephone numbers, and email addresses of three references;4) a print-ready portfolio containing professional, creative work and research, examples of prior teaching experiences and sample student works.Assistant Professor: Integrated Design
– design studios that incorporate social, technical, and environmental elements into architectural design.
