The posting salary range for this position has been adjusted from $8,681 - $17,676 per month to $8,681 - $12,000 per month.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe Research Scientist Senior will collaborate with Dr. Alex Greninger to conceive and develop projects and plans for clinical immune profiling of viral diseases.Responsible for the technical and development of the research projects and experiments in Virology, to support research in optimizing high-complexity immunological assays.Lead automation efforts in the Virology research laboratories involving liquid handlers.Develop process improvements in workflow of high complexity immunology tests.Develop and implement clinical research validation for virologic test services.Facilitate and lead the research process of streamlining and harmonization of wet bench aspects of immunology workflows.Plans, develops, and coordinates research and development of technical workflows.Oversee the creation of technical development documentation for new and updated Virology Division tests.Negotiate with vendors for reagents and instrumentation needed for expanded immunology services.Review current Virology Division technical development plans.Interact with laboratory clients related to aspects of technical development.Assist in test interpretation and reporting from research validated tests.Review high-complexity quality control data.Participate in teaching of undergraduates, graduate students, residents, and fellows.Participate in research and scholarship related to the Virology Division leadership.Other duties as assigned.Supervisory / Managerial (20%):Directly supervise the employees assigned to work in the Greninger Laboratory.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSPhD in Immunology, Virology, Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology or closely related field AND six (6) years in collaborative project design within clinical immunology and/or viral biology OR the equivalent combination of education/experience.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSExpertise in primer/probe design for PCR.Genomic assay design and different genomic library preparation techniques.Strong collaborative skills.Experience in evaluation of viral sequence diversity.Evidence of strong writing skills.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSGood communication and writing skills.Ability to analyze PCR data.Application Process:
