Job purpose:
The Safety Manager oversees the administration of the MW EH&S program and serves as safety advisor, ensuring safety compliance by the project team and all subcontractors working at the project sites within the region.
Duties and responsibilities
Provide support and guidance on the development of Site Specific Safety Plans for all new projects
Monitor project-specific implementation of MW Safety programs
Support all safety efforts and promote MW safety culture on all active projects
Providing gui dance on safety policy and enforcement
Ensure project compliance to MW safety program including but not limited to, safety submittals, training and other EH&S documentation
Ensure project teams perform HCSS Safety inspections per company policy
Perform a written comprehensive job site audit on a bi-weekly basis
Provide safety training to project teams on MW, client and OSHA requirements
Support the investigation of all incidents, near misses and accidents
Ensure contractors meet MW safety expectations
Coach project teams in effective hazard identification and correction of issues.
Analyze and provide trending reports and actions for project team
Represent MW Safety at Client meetings.
Promotes MW safety initiatives
Conducts New Employee Orientations
Conducts pre-employment and post-accident drug and alcohol testing
Experience / Education
Hold Board of Certified Safety Professionals CSP with at least 4 years of full-time relevant construction safety & health experience,
Or
Hold Board of Certified Safety Professionals ASP, GSP, or SMS with at least 6 years of full-time relevant construction safety & health experience,
Or
Hold Board of Certified Safety Professionals CHST or OHST with at least 8 years of full-time relevant construction safety & health experience.
And have all of the following training/knowledge:
Completed the OSHA 500 course for construction within the last 24 months, remaining current for the duration of the project.
Provide proof on non-expired Red Cross or approved equal for First Aid/CPR/AED
Provide proof of completion of FMCSA compliant 2 hour drug and alcohol reasonable suspicion supervisor training.
Knowledge of and ability to fulfill the contractor safety representative's responsibilities set forth in this manual and the contractor's CSPP where applicable.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of construction safety principles, techniques and methods
Sound knowledge of OSHA laws, regulations and policies
Capable of identifying known potential exposures and recommending corrective action
Strong computer skills and familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite
Management, leadership and interpersonal skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Will pursuit CHST or CSP
Attend industry related training sessions, conferences, seminars to stay up on industry best practices and networking
Other Functions
This position is assigned to the Colorado Office:
Respond to emergency calls after normal hours.
Some travel is required in this position between jobs in the area.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
Must be able to pass background check for access to airports, railroads, and military bases.
Working conditions
Work is performed indoors and/or outdoors. The noise level is usually moderate to loud. While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to travel and be exposed to inclement weather including cold and heat. Ability to climb a ladder and crawl in small spaces (if required) and/or (bridges).
