Job SummaryThe majority of the graduate teaching assistants' primary duties are in support of instruction including but not limited to the responsibilities below:

Serve as a primary or secondary teaching instructor in a class or laboratoryAssist a faculty member with teaching-related tasksGrade student assignments which require knowledge of subjects taught in a class or laboratoryMeet with and/or tutor students, hold office hours, prepare instructional materials, and assist during class and/or lab.For this position, Teaching Assistants typically will teach two sections of GEO 102 - Planet Earth. Some positions may be assigned after August enrollment for class ends.Salary Rate / Pay RatePer offer letter

Graduate Assistant HandbookMust be a degree-seeking graduate student in Hydrogeology Master's program at Illinois State University.For Teaching Assistant positions, State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position.

Work HoursWill be determined at a staff meeting TBA in August about a week before classes begin or by the supervising faculty.

Illinois State University student employees are restricted to no more than 28 hours per week of on-campus employment for all positions held. International students are restricted by their visa status to no more than 20 hours per week of on-campus employment when the university is in session but may work up to 28 hours per week when the university is not in session.
