We pride ourselves on small class sizes (capped at 32) and the individual attention that our students receive both in the classroom and the laboratory. Undergraduate research is an integral part of the program. Faculty members are actively engaged in collaborative research with students. This type of attention, which can be rare at larger research-oriented universities, provides our students with a unique learning environment among public institutions.Bridgewater State University is a teaching-intensive university located in Southeastern Massachusetts between Boston, MA and Providence, RI. Successful candidates will be faculty members who can work with their colleagues to help meet the mission of the department in serving and supporting our racially and ethnically diverse campus community.The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching in Analytical or Physical Chemistry and introductory Chemistry (lecture and laboratory). The successful candidate will teach lecture and laboratory courses in our Introductory Chemistry (CHEM 141/142, 131, 102) sequences and upper-level Analytical or Physical Chemistry courses. Faculty members are expected to advise students, contribute service at the department, college, and university levels, as well as engage in ongoing scholarship and professional activity. They should also have a commitment to public higher education, an ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning, a commitment to collaboration, and evidence of scholarship activity.Required QualificationsA Ph.D. in Analytical or Physical chemistry or a closely related area is required by September 1, 2025. Excellent oral and written communication skills.Preferred QualificationsPrior college-level teaching experience is preferred, with preference given to candidates with a background in Analytical or Physical chemistry. Preferred candidates will have a background in one or more of the following interdisciplinary sub-fields: Sustainable materials, green and sustainable chemistry, forensic chemistry, or computational chemistry.
