The University Libraries’ Instruction Specialist is an energetic, forward-thinking, creative, and highly collaborative information professional who works within the Libraries’ Teaching Partnerships unit. The Instruction Specialist assists library faculty in the teaching, development, implementation, and delivery of library research and information literacy skills through teaching sessions for introductory courses, designing and delivering workshops, and developing online and other asynchronous teaching and learning resources (such as LibGuides and online or virtual learning).Growing areas of focus that this position will support include high-enrollment first- and second-year courses and pre-college programs. This position serves as the coordinator for large-enrollment lower-level undergraduate courses in targeted, strategic areas (e.g., first-year writing) and for the Libraries’ High School Users Program.The University of Nebraska-Lincoln seeks to attract and retain a high performing and diverse workforce in which employees’ differences are respected and valued to better meet the varying needs of the diverse populations we serve. Bachelor’s degree and at least two (2) years of teaching experience or related experience required; year-for-year post-secondary education may be substituted for experience.Computer experience and knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software required.Effective verbal/written communication skills and ability to work with UNL administrators, faculty, staff, students, and community users.Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree and teaching experience with adult learners, and knowledge or experience with library reference and instruction.Knowledge of information literacy pedagogy and theories, student learning outcomes, and basic assessment techniques.Familiarity with LibGuides, Canvas, and accessibility for websites.Experience writing content for the web. Knowledge of instructional design for online classes.Additional Information
