Wakefield Hills Elementary School seeks a strong educational leader to assume the vital position of Assistant Principal. The candidate must possess effective communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to collaborative management to attain the mission of the school.Reports to:

Principal, Wakefield Hills Elementary SchoolOrganization

Assists the principal in the efficient organization of the school. Must be able to articulate a vision for the middle school in West Warwick to meet the needs of all students.Responsible for working to improve the school's culture, climate, and instructional programs.Manages the organization, operations, and available resources to promote a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment.Works to implement clear instructional goals and specific achievement objectives for the school.Works within the framework of policies, laws, and regulations enacted by local, state, and federal authorities.Utilizes student management system to gather data in improving educational practices.Curriculum

Participates in curriculum development efforts. Clarifies or interprets the educational aims/objectives of the school program. Evaluates the total instructional program.Advocates for the use of technology to change the delivery of instruction.Articulation and Program Development Between Schools

Assists in the transition of elementary students from the elementary school to the middle school, transition of students from grade to grade within the middle school, and the middle school students to the high school.Strategic Plan

Provides leadership in the implementation of the school's strategic plan through participation on the school improvement team.Extra-Curricular Program

Responsible for assisting in the organization and supervision of school-sponsored events within and outside of the school.Supervision of interscholastic athletic events within and outside the school building.Assists in the supervision of the After-School Program.Assessment

Evaluates certified and classified personnel as directed by the principal.Collaborates with guidance counselors to assess and monitor student achievement and assists in developing programs to help students reach their academic potential.Assists the academic departments in implementing/delivering effective programs.Assistant Principal's Personal Professional Development and Behavior

Keeps abreast of changes in local, state, and national education policy.Demonstrates a personal and professional code of ethics.Demonstrates values, beliefs, and attitudes that inspire others to higher levels of performance.Treats people fairly, equitably, and with dignity and respect.Protects the rights and confidentiality of students and staff.Participates in the school reform movement.School Management

Administers specific operations of the building as directed by the principal.Supervises the operation of the building to ensure a safe, clean, orderly environment.Participates in a collaborative management team.Conducts meetings as directed by the principal.Administers the efficient delivery of the district's discipline code.Represents the administrative team as requested by the principal.Maintains and manages disciplinary records.Generates reports as directed by the principal.Works closely with Principal to develop a master schedule for teachers and students.School/Community Relations

Promotes positive interactions with parents and/or families.Attains and enhances positive connections with community partnerships.System-Wide Duties

Will participate in at least one district-wide committee; examples to include alternative schools, management information, safety, and teacher evaluations.General

Perform any other duties as may be necessary from one's own observation or as directed by the principal.To be knowledgeable of special education laws and regulations while making decisions pertaining to their rights regarding discipline or when acting as chair for IEP meetings.Support, supervise, and work to provide positive school experiences for students who are deemed at risk.
