Reporting to the Chief Development Officer and Vice-President of Development and Alumni Engagement, the Regional Director of Development will secure and steward gifts of $100,000-$5M to advance the missions of the Geisel School of Medicine. The incumbent will focus on executing regional engagement activities to support development objectives in assigned geographical areas. They will strategize and coordinate closely with colleagues across the department, as well as with development counterparts across Dartmouth College, to formulate and implement donor engagement strategies to increase philanthropic investment in the academic medical enterprise at Dartmouth, and to achieve annual performance metrics.Required Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Bachelors plus 6 or more years' experience or combination of education and experience.Skills & Knowledge:Exemplary written and verbal communication and negotiation skills with demonstrated fundraising experience.Strong customer/service orientation.Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work in a large, complex, decentralized organization.Proven ability to relate and communicate with a diverse audience.Exceptional planning, administrative and organizational skills.Flexibility and creativity.Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.Commitment to diversity within the workplace.Brings joy and a sense of humor to work.Experience:Minimum six years of fundraising experience, ideally in a major gift capacity.Understanding of and appreciation for the philanthropic process and individual giving behaviors.Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience.Previous capital campaign experience and/or experience fundraising in a complex college or university development operation.Writing and communications experience in higher education or non-profit environment.Department Contact for Recruitment Inquiries

Identifies, qualifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards a portfolio of ~125-175 Dartmouth alumni and friends.Develops and implements comprehensive solicitation and stewardship strategies for major gift donors and prospects.Collaborates with colleagues in the Dartmouth College Development office.Travels regularly within the assigned region to meet with individuals and achieve annual fundraising and engagement targets.Writes and submits contact reports and compiles other pertinent information following donor contacts.Program and Project Management

Develops and maintains working knowledge of Geisel’s priority areas for fundraising and serves as a resource to faculty.Donor Coordination and Contact

Interacts with and engages specific major donors, ensuring appropriate recognition and stewardship of donors.Commitment to Diversity
