Reporting to the Chief Development Officer and Vice-President of Development and Alumni Engagement for the Geisel School of Medicine, the Regional Director of Development will secure and steward gifts of $100,000-$5M to advance the mission of The Geisel School of Medicine. This includes seeking philanthropic support for The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice and the Center for Global Health Equity. The incumbent will focus on executing regional engagement activities to support development objectives in several regions and other geographical areas as assigned. They will strategize and coordinate closely with colleagues across the department to formulate and implement donor engagement strategies to increase philanthropic investment in the academic medical enterprise at Dartmouth and achieve annual performance metrics.Required Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Masters plus 6 or more years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:• Exemplary written and verbal communication and negotiation skills with demonstrated fundraising experience.• Strong customer/service orientation.• Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work in a large, complex, decentralized organization.• Proven ability to relate and communicate with a diverse audience.• Exceptional planning, administrative and organizational skills, ability to take initiative, manage time efficiently, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities.• Flexibility and creativity.• Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.• Commitment to diversity within the workplace.• Brings joy and a sense of humor to work.Experience:• Minimum six years of fundraising experience, ideally in a major gift capacity.• Understanding of and appreciation for the philanthropic process and individual giving behaviors combined with direct solicitation experience.Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.• Previous capital campaign experience and/or experience fundraising in a complex college or university development operation with a proven record of successful fundraising strongly preferred.• Writing and communications experience in higher education or non-profit environment preferred.Fundraising Responsibilities

• Identifies, qualifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards a portfolio of ~125-175 Dartmouth alumni and friends, with an emphasis on medical school alumni.• Develops and implements comprehensive solicitation and stewardship strategies for major gift donors and prospects.• Devises donor-centric fundraising strategies to meet personal activity and revenue goals.• Collaborates with colleagues in the Dartmouth College Development office to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward Dartmouth College alumni.• Manages and curates pipelines for senior leader and faculty trips to visit prospects.Donor Coordination and Contact

• Interacts with and engages specific major donors, ensuring appropriate recognition and stewardship of donors.• Works with development peers across Dartmouth College and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center on matters related to prospects.Program and Project Management

• Develops and maintains working knowledge of Geisel’s priority areas for fundraising; serves as a resource to faculty, helping to devise and implement fundraising strategies for gifts.• Attends appropriate Geisel School of Medicine events and meetings.Commitment to Diversity
