Through its 16 colleges, UIC produces nationally and internationally recognized multidisciplinary academic programs in concert with civic, corporate and community partners worldwide, including a full complement of health sciences colleges.Description:Position SummaryThe UIC School of Law, Chicago's only public law school, is seeking a highly motivated and passionate Adjunct Teaching Associates to join our team and teach courses in the Juris Doctor program. This is a part-time, non-tenure-track position offering an opportunity to contribute to the intellectual development of future legal professionals.Adjunct faculty are part-time positions, normally appointed for one semester at a time, and teach one or two courses in an academic year. Teaching associates teach or co-teach courses in the law school's Academic Achievement Program, including JD 401 Expert Learning, an introductory course for first-year students, and three bar preparation courses: LAW 531 Bar Essay Writing, LAW 532 Writing for the Practice of Law, and LAW 530 Legal Fundamentals Review and Test Taking Skills.Courses are taught online or in person at our downtown Chicago campus, during the day or evening. A learning management system is used to post syllabi and other materials and communicate with students. Teaching associates are required to participate in orientation and training sessions and to comply with academic and institutional policies.Duties & ResponsibilitiesTo teach or co-teach in the Law School's Academic Achievement Program. Courses include JD 401 Expert Learning, an introductory course for first-year students; and LAW 531 Bar Essay Writing, LAW 532 Writing for the Practice of Law, and LAW 530 Legal Fundamentals Review and Test Taking Skills.Qualifications:Minimum QualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school or its equivalent from a foreign country.Admission to the Illinois bar or that of another state.A record of or potential for excellent teaching, and experience with or willingness to learn the Blackboard learning management system.Candidates must be in good standing with any bar to which they have been admitted.Candidates who have been enrolled in and successfully completed that course at UIC Law in or after the Fall 2018 semester, or who have completed an equivalent course at another law school may also be considered.For fullest consideration, apply online at
