Job Summary
The Research Center in Minority Institutions (RCMI) is currently seeking a Student Assistant to perform the duties below:Assist in the day-to-day research activities of the RCMI funded project focused on the gut microbiome, sleep, and cognition.Primary duties include screening participants, scheduling and completing drop-off and pick-up of study materials at participants' homes.Complete informed consent with participants.Capture data from participants in their homes including height, weight, blood pressure, and other information as required by the project.Assist with research tasks, such as preparation, formatting, translating, and proofing of study materials including recruitment flyers, questionnaires, and other items.Assists with data storage, management, and cleaning, as needed.Coordinate recruitment events and schedule participant interviews, as needed.Assist in the preparation, formatting, and proofing of presentations, manuscripts, and literature reviews.Participate in all project-related meetings.This position requires a vehicle, and a willingness to travel throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties (mileage reimbursement provided).Performs other related duties as required or as directed.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum: two (2) years of post-secondary education with one (1) year of experience.Preferred: BA with one (1) year of experience.Must be able to independently travel between Miami-Dade and Broward County.Must be Bilingual (Spanish/Creole).

Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.Upon graduating, student employment must end.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday (flexible within the week, weekends may be necessary for dropping off and picking up supplies at participants' homes).20 hours a week.
Advertised Salary
$15.00/hour
