AIR is currently seeking a

Qualitative Research Associate

to join our International Development Division. The position offers an opportunity to gain first-hand qualitative data management and research experience on exciting evaluations of development programs.

Candidates hired for the position may work remotely within the United States (U.S.) or from one of our U.S. office locations. This does not include U.S. territories.

ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities for the position include:

Support efforts to collect, compile, validate, interpret, and analyze qualitative data and trends using standard research practices and techniques.

Apply qualitative research techniques and methods.

Work on moderately complex assignments under indirect supervision.

Communicate project support needs and requests to senior management.

Provide administrative support to research projects.

Conduct literature reviews and write sections of project proposals and deliverables.

Responsible for maintaining and checking the accuracy of data for assigned projects.

Utilize external resources to supplement, organize, and contribute to tasks and projects.

Participate in business development activities.

Code and analyze qualitative data using NVivo qualitative analysis software.

Develop interview and focus group protocols.

Conduct interviews and focus groups.

Travel as needed.

QualificationsEducation, Knowledge, and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience or Master's degree in such fields as Anthropology, Sociology, Political Science, Psychology, History, Government, Public Policy or related fields.

Familiarity with qualitative research methods and data analysis.

Experience working and/or doing research in other countries.

Experience with NVivo or Atlas TI or other qualitative software packages.

Skills:

Excellent writing, and proficiency within a Microsoft Windows environment.

Flexible, self-motivated, able to manage multiple tasks efficiently, and team player.

Willingness to travel as needed.

Ability to work independently on detailed assignments.

Proficient bilingual communicator with fluency in English and French or Portuguese with strong cross-cultural written and verbal communication skills.
