The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University seeks applicants for a Lecturer position in Engineering Management. Cornell’s Engineering Management Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) program is building the next generation of technology leaders with the technical rigor and business savvy to help shape the future, turning sociotechnical challenges into opportunities. Our graduates combine technical depth with leadership, systems thinking, design thinking, and communication skills to drive innovation and excellence in technology-driven enterprises.

The Master of Engineering degree is a coursework and project-oriented program to help graduates lead people, make better decisions to advance their organization, and disrupt their field. It is heavily interdisciplinary in nature. Engineering Management requires both expertise in the techniques specific to the field and an understanding of how and why people behave as they do in the complex social systems in which they work.

The successful candidate will provide relevant and contemporary instruction within the Master of Engineering Program in Engineering Management, primarily for distance learning students. This person will also assist directly with ensuring positive student experiences and student success, covering topics related to technical product marketing, product line management, Data Analytics in Product Management and/or Marketing, and Negotiations. Experience and lessons connected to the tech industry are of particular interest.

The Cornell School of Civil and Environmental Engineering seeks candidates with substantial engineering leadership backgrounds in technical organizations. The successful candidate will have no less than 10 years of expertise in project leadership or product management, including non-traditional paradigms for project management and innovation leadership in an engineering context and on a global basis. In addition, candidates should have experience in finance, marketing, negotiations, and managing remote teams in technological organizations. Skills and knowledge in strategy, technology road-mapping, and digital transformation efforts are also of interest. Successful leadership within a FAANG company is desirable.

The successful applicant will have:

an undergraduate degree in engineering, or a related technical field;

an MBA, Master of Engineering, or a Master degree in a related field;

at least 10 years of experience in leadership positions in engineering-oriented firms, ideally in entrepreneurial roles;

at least one year of demonstrated teaching ability at the University level.

Strong preference for candidates with over 10 years at C-Suite, VP, or Global Director level roles within technical engineering-oriented organizations. The anticipated start date is January 2025. The position is benefits eligible half-time for a 3-year term and is renewable indefinitely. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The salary range reflects an aggregate of qualifications and disciplines across Cornell University:

Lecturer: $49,700 - $122,000

Senior Lecturer: $58,600 - $164,000

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:

Prior relevant work or industry experience.

Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.

Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary).
