The Museum of the Rockies seeks an experienced, trustworthy, and team-oriented Security Guard Supervisor. The Security Guard Supervisor works under the direct supervision of the Security and Facility Manager to create a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors, staff, exhibits, and collections. The Security Guard Supervisor is a professional and responsible individual who supports the management of daily security and facility operations of the museum and contributes to the supervision of the Security Guard team. Starting $23.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications.Responsibilities

Protect the Museum through proactive prevention including alarm systems, video monitoring, and on-site patrol to prevent vandalism and theft, and control access to staff areas including the lab and collections.Document and actively manage security access for all MOR staff.Respond to reports of physical injury, provide medical first-aid, or contact EMS.Provide excellent customer service and assist visitors and patrons of the Museum by providing direction to various parts of the building, or grounds, answering general questions, etc.Investigate incidents and complete reports. May include communicating with MSU Police, Bozeman Fire Department, MSU Safety & Risk Management, MSU Facilities Services, and Federal and State Agencies.Serve on 24-hour call as assigned to respond to problems and emergencies outside of normal shift times. This position is the first responder to Museum emergencies including medical emergencies, accidents, conflict, crime, and fire.Work alone and unsupervised during nights, weekends, and holidays (including Thanksgiving and Christmas).Perform other Security and Facility Operations as needed and assigned.Supervise Security Staff

In the absence of the Security and Facility Manager and Assistant Manager, serve as the acting manager of the Security and Facility operations.Recruit, hire, train, and supervise security personnel as needed.Prepare and manage shift assignments to ensure security coverage for all open hours and after-hours events.Assist Security and Facility Manager with addressing security personnel performance, as needed and appropriate in coordination with MSU Human Resources, and with evaluating the performance of the security team.Proactively Ensure Facility Security

Assist in ensuring the Museum complies with all statutory requirements related to building security, health, and safety, including but not limited to, OSHA, Building, Fire, and ADA regulations.Assist in keeping the buildings and grounds up to standards for health and safety (e.g., proper height of fire extinguishers, room capacities), work with MSU Facilities Services to report issues.Assist in investigating and documenting safety violations, report to supervisor or proper authority.Ensure safety of individuals on museum property, monitor walkways and facility entrances, initiate action to correct uncertain conditions; monitor conditions until physical hazard is corrected.Update Security Policies & Procedures and Provide Training

Obtain and maintain knowledge of the Security Team Policies and Procedures and the MOR emergency preparedness program.Possess expert knowledge of and have accessible the Collections Policies & Procedures.Train MOR employees on security policies and procedures.Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Associate Degree in field relevant and/or a combination of two years of training (i.e. police academy, military police school, etc.), education, and/or work experience in criminal justice, law enforcement, security operations, or closely related field.Supervisory experience in security or law enforcement.Relevant knowledge of a diverse range of safety and security practices and procedures, security equipment, devices, including specialized operating requirements, methods, and procedures to protect buildings, access control, collection, staff members, and visitors.Demonstrated experience in emergency reporting and response planning.Demonstrated experience in customer service and handling cash and valuables.Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Experience as a security officer, law enforcement, or similar position.Demonstrated experience in customer service, security, and/or hospitality.Progressively responsible experience in museum security or public safety.Experience working in a museum environment including an understanding of collections and exhibit care.Experience working with security systems including video monitoring and alarm systems.The Successful Candidate Will
