Job Description:The Associate Dean of Students, under the guidance of the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students, plays a pivotal role in spearheading initiatives for campus-wide wellbeing, leading the Behavioral Consultation Team (BCT), and managing two Associate Directors of Student Advocacy. As the central point of contact, the Associate Dean oversees the day-to-day operations and functions of the Office of The Dean of Students, addresses queries from faculty, staff, students, and their families, while also contributing to the management of The Highlander Pantry. Advocating for student interests, the Associate Dean manages grievance resolutions, aids in retention efforts, and collaborates on programs for parents and families. The Associate Dean will assist the AVP/Dean in the implementation and execution of grant projects connected to The Office of the Dean of Students. Moreover, the Associate Dean provides guidance to the Student Government Association, the Student Finance Committee, and related student councils as part of the broader Student Affairs initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:The candidate has proven experience in one or more key areas: Advocacy, Case Management, Care Teams, and Wellbeing programs, along with a solid understanding of higher education law. They have a notable history of supporting students during crises and are well-versed in student advocacy, ombuds services, and student affairs. They exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and have a track record of successfully supervising team members. Their advocacy for college students is both effective and appropriate. They have a history of positively engaging with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and families. Their technical proficiency spans Microsoft Office, databases, web platforms, and other relevant software and technologies. The candidate is known for sound judgment and fostering a sense of community and ethical conduct among students. They are adept at building and maintaining constructive relationships with various university groups and external partners.

Preferred Qualifications:The individual showcases a robust background in collaborating with campus CARE teams and wellbeing initiatives. With seven years of progressive service in higher education, they bring valuable insights into advising student organizations and working with wellbeing and advocacy programs.
